Roadtripping Southern Africa
In spring 2017 I had 5 weeks of roadtripping through South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique. I spent some time in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg but having visited the south african "Garden Route" with all its european influences and its beautiful holiday-destinations the years before, this year I was interested in a deeper (south) african impression. So we choose to also travel the backcountry to see the diverse nature and to experience the rural life. I wanted to get a more comprehensive feeling for this amazing continent with its harsh history and living circumstances. The trip took us about 6000 km from Cape Town over the Swartberg Mountains through the Karoo to the Wild Coast, South Coast, up the Sani Pass and the Drakensberge in Lesotho, into the Kruger Park crossing border to the southern part of Mozambique up to Tofo Beach and back to Maputo; finally making our way back to Johannesburg through Swaziland.
